The Starworks
Expert Network

One of the aims of Starworks is to increase research across the system in order to accelerate the translation of new inventions and developments in child prosthetics into everyday use.

To achieve this we feel it is crucial to engage experts from key stakeholder groups, and facilitate mutual learning between them. If you are interested in joining the network, please follow the link below. The Starworks network approach will ensure that we have the correct balance of expertise dedicated to supporting innovation in the field of prosthetics for children.

Our objectives are:

To identify and validate unmet needs for children with limb loss from all stakeholders

To share ideas or requests for collaboration from across the network

To establish collaborations and facilitate new projects

To work across all stakeholders, industry, the NIHR and NHS infrastructure to develop and evaluate new technology in this field

To help shape the national agenda on the importance of new innovation in this field by influencing future funding calls and direction

There is no minimum commitment expected from members of the expert network. We will contact the members when the network is approached for their opinion, but members can choose to respond, or not, on a case-by-case basis. Additionally, if members have something to share from their area of expertise, we would be happy to support this.

If you are interested in joining the network, all we ask at this point is if you would complete this very short questionnaire, simply to understand your areas of interest and location https://forms.gle/HS41hZhY4bhmT3E67.

Elevating the voice of children and young people is core to our values and central to our future direction. We have therefore created the Starworks Ambassador Scheme to ensure they are part of the Starworks network too. To read more about the Starworks Ambassador Scheme please click here (Link TBC).

Having my limb can sometimes be challenging, but it makes me unique and cool!

Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do anything... You can do everything!

I wear a leg and i can do everything. I even won the egg and spoon race in the children's olympics!
